Why Supervision with Me?

Supervision is required on the path to LCSW licensure, but it can also be a deeply meaningful part of your growth as a therapist. My approach to supervision is relational and collaborative - I create space for you to bring both your clinical questions and your personal reactions to the work. With a background in foster care, schools, psychiatric hospitals, community clinics, and private practice, I bring a broad perspective that helps you navigate challenges with confidence. Together, we’ll focus not just on meeting requirements, but on helping you develop your clinical voice, strengthen your skills, and build a sustainable foundation for your career.

What to Expect from Supervision

To become an LCSW in Texas, the state sets a few requirements for supervision:

  • You’ll complete at least 100 hours of supervision with a board-approved supervisor while also working toward 3,000 hours of clinical experience.

  • This process happens over a minimum of 24 months - there’s no rushing through it.

  • Each month, you’ll participate in at least 4 hours of supervision, spread across two or more meetings.

  • Supervision can be a blend of individual and group sessions, giving you some flexibility in how you meet your hours.

About your work setting:
Recent board updates place the responsibility on supervisors to ensure that a supervisee’s employment qualifies for clinical experience. To count toward your hours, your role must include using the DSM-5 to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions for at least 4 hours each week. We’ll review your setting together to make sure it meets these standards before getting started.

My role is to walk alongside you through this process - making sure the boxes get checked while also creating space for growth, reflection, and support.
