FAQ

  • Is therapy right for me?

Some people come to therapy hoping to feel “happier,” others want to develop tools for managing stress, and many are simply seeking a space where they can feel truly seen. I believe we all benefit from having someone in our life who sees us clearly - someone who makes room for all of our parts, listens to the unspoken, and offers a caring, non-judgmental presence. That said, only you can decide if therapy feels right for you. A consult call can be a helpful first step in figuring that out.

  • What should I expect?

Therapy looks different for everyone. I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation so we can get a sense of whether we’re a good fit, and so you can ask any questions you might have about working together. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule an initial appointment. During those first few sessions, I’ll ask questions to better understand where you’re coming from and what you’re hoping for. Some people come in knowing exactly what they want to work on. Others just have a sense that therapy might be helpful. All of that (and everything in between) is welcome here.

  • Will what we talk about be confidential?

Therapy should be a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, work toward your goals, and reflect on life’s bigger questions. That said, there are a few situations where I’m legally and ethically required to break confidentiality for safety reasons. These include: concerns about abuse or neglect of children, elders, or people with disabilities; plans to seriously harm yourself or someone else; and reports of abuse, neglect, or unethical conduct by another mental health professional or treatment center.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed entirely, will be charged the full session fee unless there is an emergency or truly unavoidable situation. That said, if you're able to reschedule within the same week and I have availability, I’ll do my best to offer another time so the late cancellation fee can be avoided. I hold your scheduled time just for you, and consistent attendance helps support the momentum of our work together.

  • How often will we meet?

Weekly therapy is generally recommended to support consistent progress and build a strong therapeutic relationship. In the beginning, meeting weekly helps us get to know each other and understand what you want to work on. Over time, we can decide together if it makes sense to continue weekly, shift to every other week, or move to occasional check-ins as needed. I also understand that weekly sessions aren’t always feasible, and I’m happy to explore scheduling options that make therapy more accessible.

  • What are your rates?

My standard fee for therapy is $180 per 50-minute session, with a limited number of sliding scale spots beginning at $125 based on financial need discussed prior to starting therapy. For fellow clinicians, I offer clinical case consultation at $110 per 60-minute session. I also provide LCSW supervision, including individual supervision at $100 per hour, group supervision at $75 per 90-minute session, and a combined plan of two group sessions + one individual session per month for $250/month. If you’re exploring therapy, consultation, or supervision and want to talk through what might be the best fit, I’m always happy to help.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I am in-network with Aetna. For all other insurance plans, I’m considered an out-of-network (OON) provider and do not bill insurance directly. Many clients are still able to use their OON benefits to obtain partial reimbursement. I’m happy to provide a monthly superbill to support that process.

If you have questions about using insurance, OON benefits, or payment logistics, just let me know - I’m here to help navigate options.

  • How do I get started?

If you're curious about working together, the best first step is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to connect, talk through what you're looking for, and see if we’re a good fit. You can book a consult directly through my scheduling portal or reach out through my contact form if you have any questions before scheduling. If we decide to move forward, I’ll guide you through the next steps, including completing intake forms and getting your first session scheduled. I try to make the process as simple and supportive as possible.

  • What if I have additional questions?

If you have any questions, you're always welcome to reach out to me directly by email, phone, or by filling out the contact form.
